It’s Apple Week!

Happy Fall Y’all!

It may not be getting any cooler down here in Florida, but that doesn’t stop us from celebrating the changing of the seasons! My kinders LOVED getting into some fall feels with our apple theme this week. We worked in apple-themed math and literacy centers, taste tested different colors of apples in science, and listened to plenty of fall-themed read-alouds like Annie the Apple Fairy and Amelia Bedelia’s Apple Pie.

To wrap up all we’ve been learning about apples, we celebrated today with a Craftivity {this has become my favorite teacher word, by the way} about our favorite color apple. Students voted on which color apple was their favorite, decorated their own apple using torn construction paper, and constructed a sentence about their apple using our color and sight words.

Red apples were the favorite among most of my class. Everybody loves a Red Delicious!

Now for some tech fun….

Once students finished their apple, it was time to make a little tech magic. Using the app, Chatterpix Kids, students animated their apple creation and gave it a voice!

Here’s how it works…

Students take a photo of their apple in the Chatterpix app. Next, using their finger, they draw a mouth on it. Then, students tap the microphone to record up to 30 seconds of sound explaining why their apple was their favorite. Last, students got to be a little silly and dress-up their apple with stickers. Check out a few of our finished creations below!

As with most things we create, finished ChatterPix creations got posted on Seesaw for classmates and parents to enjoy. We had a blast watching these as a class on our Interactive Whiteboard. It was non-stop
giggles this afternoon.

I hope you enjoyed this activity! The Craftivity docs and the apps I used are linked for you below.
